I remember reading the feature in The Atlantic about where the children from Romanian orphanages in 90s are now. What struck me was how much damage was done simply because these children didn’t have a constant caregiver, even an imperfect one, in their lives. As a mom of two who also constantly feels like I’m not doing enough, your point about simply being there is well taken. Gotta run, my 3yo has been yelling at me for the last sixty seconds.
